PM Dhan-Dhaanya Yojana: New programs are constantly being introduced by the federal government to enhance the quality of life for farmers and support the agriculture industry. The PM Dhan-Dhaanya Yojana (PMDDKY), which was introduced in the 2025–2026 Budget, is one of these. The program’s goal is to boost agricultural output and infrastructure in areas that have fallen behind in the development race. In this move, Uttar Pradesh has once again shown its strength.
Twelve UP Districts Make It
A list of 100 aspirational agricultural areas nationwide under the PM Dhan-Dhaanya Yojana was recently made public by the central government. With twelve districts, Uttar Pradesh has the most districts on this list. Sonbhadra, Hamirpur, Banda, Jalaun, Jhansi, Unnao, Prayagraj, Chitrakoot, Pratapgarh, Shravasti, Lalitpur, and Mahoba are a few of these.
The enormous potential Uttar Pradesh has to improve the agriculture industry is evident from this choice alone. Nine districts from Maharashtra have joined this system after Uttar Pradesh. This list also includes seven districts from Bihar and eight districts each from Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan.
The pick is based on a sound strategy
Three main factors were used to choose these 100 districts:
First, these districts have low agricultural productivity per hectare.
Second, getting financing is more difficult for farmers.
Third, farmers are unable to make the most of their fields all year round due to low cropping intensity.
In order to provide farmers with long-term advantages, the government intends to concentrate on these districts and improve agricultural productivity, storage, irrigation, and financial infrastructure.
District strategies for agricultural growth are being created
The PM Dhan-Dhaanya Yojana does not have its own budget. Instead, 36 current government programs will be integrated in order to achieve it. Each district that is chosen will have its own district agricultural development plan created. An estimated ₹24,000 crore would be invested each year under this initiative, which has the potential to significantly alter the agriculture industry.
To properly carry out and oversee the plan, 100 central nodal officials have also been hired. On the ground, these officials will be in charge of making sure the plan moves forward quickly and correctly.
Improvements in the Lives of Farmers
This plan, if successfully executed, will raise agricultural productivity and result in a steady rise in farmers’ income. Farmers will become more self-sufficient with the aid of better irrigation systems, better storage facilities, and simpler finance availability. Additionally, implementing sustainable farming methods will assist the environment.
