After ten years, Toyota has revived its long-standing brand, Scion, but this time in a completely new avatar. While Scion was previously known for its affordable, small car models aimed at young buyers, Toyota has now unveiled a powerful off-road vehicle at the 2025 SEMA Show. This new concept vehicle, called the Scion 01, is as aggressive as it is powerful.
Powerful Looks and Stunning Design
Looking at the Scion 01, one thing is clear this is no ordinary off-roader. Its design is inspired by the classic dune buggy style, but with a modern touch. The square front body structure, simple horizontal headlights, and LED lights in the bumper give it a rugged look. Furthermore, the rooftop light bar and rear spare tire make it even more adventurous. Its rugged, all-terrain tires and 10-spoke wheels give it the look of a perfect off-roader.
Engine and Performance: Hybrid Engine with Over 300 Horsepower
Toyota has installed a turbocharged four-cylinder hybrid engine inspired by its truck lineup in this concept. The company says it generates over 300 horsepower. This is likely the same engine setup used in the Tacoma Hybrid truck. Interestingly, it also features a “Silent Mode,” where it runs solely on electric power, allowing you to enjoy a quiet ride amidst nature.
Interior Look and Safety
The Scion 01’s cabin is minimalist yet attractive. It features sport bucket seats with full harness restraints. The driver’s seat features a red and white digital Camouflage pattern, matching the Tacoma TRD Pro. For safety, Toyota has added a new roll cage that complies with both SCORE and FIA safety standards.
Why did Toyota bring back the Scion brand?
Toyota says the Scion brand has always been a symbol of creative experimentation. Perhaps that’s why the company has brought back the name with a new concept. While Toyota hasn’t revealed whether the Scion 01 will ever be put into production, it’s clear the company is working on something big.
