PM Dhan Dhaanya Krishi Yojana: India’s agriculture is its lifeblood, and the nation’s development is built on the labor of each and every farmer. In light of this, Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a special agricultural program in New Delhi today, laying the groundwork and inaugurating projects and schemes totaling more than ₹42,000 crore. The “Mission for Self-Reliance in Pulses” and the “Pradhan Mantri Dhan Dhanya Krishi Yojana” are two significant programs that the Prime Minister presented on this occasion to improve the economic and social standing of the nation’s farmers.
Farmer Success Through the Pradhan Mantri Dhan Dhanya Krishi Yojana: A Novel Approach

The PM Dhan Dhaanya Krishi Yojana was introduced with a ₹24,000 crore investment. It seeks to implement sustainable farming methods, encourage crop diversification, and boost agricultural output. Irrigation facilities will be upgraded as part of this program, and 100 districts will have access to both short-term and long-term loans. According to Prime Minister Modi, this program will improve farmers’ economic standing and increase their level of independence.
Mission to Boost Protein Security and Productivity for Self-Sufficiency in Pulses
Likewise, the ₹11,440 crore ‘Mission for Self-Reliance in Pulses’ has been initiated. Expanding the area used for pulse farming, boosting productivity, and fortifying the value chain are its objectives. Crop losses will be decreased, and procurement, storage, and processing procedures will all be improved.
Development of Farmers and India’s Agricultural Accomplishments
Speaking to farmers on this particular occasion, Prime Minister Modi claimed that these programs would change the lives of millions of farmers nationwide. He also emphasized the agricultural sector’s accomplishments throughout the previous eleven years. Food output has risen by 90 million metric tons, fruit and vegetable production has surpassed 64 million metric tons, and India’s agricultural export potential has nearly doubled over this time.
To guarantee protein security, the prime minister encouraged farmers to concentrate on growing pulses in addition to wheat and rice. He said that the government will work to improve 100 underperforming agricultural districts as part of the Pradhan Mantri Dhan-Dhanya Krishi Yojana (PM-Dhanya Krishi Yojana), which will only be successful if it is implemented successfully at the local level.
Other Government Initiatives and Agricultural Reforms

According to Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, the government has lowered the GST rates on agricultural equipment and given farmers relief through the impending GST reforms. He added that, thus far, the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM Kisan Samman Nidhi) plan has directly deposited ₹3.90 lakh crore into farmers’ accounts. Additionally, the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY) has paid out ₹1.83 lakh crore to farmers’ accounts.
Prime Minister Modi urged farmers to contribute significantly to the nation’s progress, claiming that these programs would improve their lives and reward their diligence.
