PM Dhan Dhaanya Yojana: To develop the country’s farmers and agriculture sector, the central government has selected 100 districts from 29 states and union territories under the Pradhan Mantri Dhan-Dhaanya Krishi Yojana (PMDDKY). Uttar Pradesh topped the list with the highest number of districts, 12. This scheme was launched with the aim of improving the lives of farmers and promoting agricultural production.
Objective and Functioning of the Scheme
The PM Dhan Dhaanya Yojana aims to prepare a comprehensive agricultural development plan for each selected district. This scheme will coordinate existing schemes from various departments to achieve effective results. This means that each district will have coordination of 36 major schemes from 11 departments in the fields of agriculture, farmer welfare, and rural development.
The districts of Uttar Pradesh included in this scheme include Mahoba, Sonbhadra, Hamirpur, Banda, Jalaun, Jhansi, Unnao, Prayagraj, Chitrakoot, Pratapgarh, Shravasti, and Lalitpur. Nine districts from Maharashtra, Bihar, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, and other states have also been included in the scheme. 100 central nodal officers have been appointed to administer and monitor the scheme, monitoring its progress and functioning.
Financial Arrangements and Benefits
The government has clarified that this scheme does not have a separate budget; instead, it will be implemented in coordination with various agriculture-related schemes. The scheme aims to implement works worth approximately ₹24,000 crore annually. This is expected to significantly improve agricultural production, farmer welfare, and regional development in the selected districts.

Districts from Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, Bihar, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Andhra Pradesh, Gujarat, Odisha, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, West Bengal, Assam, Chhattisgarh, Kerala, Jammu and Kashmir, Jharkhand, Uttarakhand, Arunachal Pradesh, Goa, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Punjab, Sikkim, and Tripura have been included in the scheme.
Scheme Guidelines
The comprehensive agricultural development plan to be prepared in each district under the PM Dhan Dhan Yojana will include 19 key schemes of the Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Department. Central nodal officers will monitor the implementation and progress of the scheme to ensure maximum benefits to farmers and the agricultural sector. This scheme can prove to be an important step towards holistic and sustainable development of the country’s agricultural sector.
