Mahila Rojgar Yojana: A significant move has been taken by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar to improve the lot of women in Bihar. One woman from each family in the state would receive ₹10,000 as a start-up fund under this program to launch her own company or work for herself. Additionally, after evaluating the women’s performance over the following six months, the government intends to pay an additional ₹2 lakh. Prime Minister Narendra Modi started this effort on September 26th by transferring ₹10,000 to the bank accounts of 7.5 million women.
Mahila Rojgar Yojana: The Plan Moves from Rural to Urban Regions
The program was first introduced mostly for women in rural regions, but it is now also available in metropolitan areas. Women are joining Jeevika groups from industries like government offices, hospitals, catering, and kitchen operations. As a result, there is now a rush to join Jeevika in cities. Over 1 million applications were received in the first week of the program, and there are currently 312,431 Self-Help Groups (SHGs) operating in the state.
First installment distribution and future plans
Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and Prime Minister Narendra Modi transferred ₹10,000 to women’s accounts under the first installment of the scheme. The second installment will be disbursed to 2.5 million women on October 3, while the remaining beneficiaries will receive the funds on October 6 and 17. The final date for the phased payments has been set for December 26.
Mahila Rojgar Yojana: Application and Verification Process
In metropolitan areas, applications are being submitted electronically, and Jeevika employees will physically verify each application. Strict verification procedures are in place to guarantee that the program’s rewards are only given to legitimate recipients. More than 2 million applications have been received so far, including from women in both rural and urban regions, according to Jeevika Chief Executive Officer Himanshu Sharma. This program’s primary goal is to empower women economically and help them become self-sufficient.
