Vishwakarma Yojana: Often, people possess talent, but lack the right means to showcase it to the world. A special training program held in Bilaspur gave such artisans renewed confidence. Every artisan who attended realized that the digital age is no longer a challenge for them, but a huge opportunity. This program not only provided a medium for training but also proved to be a strong step towards giving wings to the artisans’ dreams.
Organized by the MSME Development Office in Solan, this training camp attracted over 100 artisans and craftspeople from 18 trades. They received simple and clear training on new technologies related to digital operations, financial transactions, and online trading. Office head Ashok Kumar Gautam explained that the objective of the Pradhan Mantri Vishwakarma Yojana is to connect artisans with the modern market, enabling them to gain recognition for their skills nationwide.
Learning Online Business, the Path to Self-Reliance

At the camp, artisans were taught how to sell their products on online platforms. They were explained in simple language about the trends, opportunities, and benefits of e-commerce. In particular, the process of doing business on the Meesho app, listing products, attractively displaying them, and selling them was explained. This training proved extremely useful for artisans venturing into the digital world for the first time.
They were also taught essential skills such as packaging, stock management, secure payments, live onboarding, and digital transactions. The program had such a positive impact that 50 artisans opened accounts with India Post Payments Bank on the spot and received QR codes for digital payments. Meanwhile, 25 artisans expressed their desire to list their products on Meesho and began the registration process.
During the program, artisans presented 30 loan-related questions to officials, of which 10 were resolved on the spot. The remaining cases were forwarded to the relevant banks so that artisans could easily obtain loans and expand their operations. The entire event boosted the artisans’ confidence and reassured them that technology is now their partner, not a hindrance.
