But before that, an important day is coming when banks will be closed in many states. Banks will be closed on Tuesday, October 7, 2025, on the occasion of Maharishi Valmiki Jayanti and Sharad Purnima.
Bank Holidays on Maharishi Valmiki Jayanti and Sharad Purnima
Maharishi Valmiki Jayanti and Sharad Purnima hold special significance in Indian tradition. Religious events are held in many parts of the country on this day, and devotees participate in religious rituals. Consequently, the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has decided to close banks in several states on this day. However, this holiday will not be applicable in all states, but on a regional basis.
RBI List of Holidays for October 2025
According to the RBI’s holiday calendar, banking services will be affected for a total of more than 10 days in Banks Holiday 7 October 2025. These include holidays on every second and fourth Saturday and all Sundays, along with national and regional festivals. Following Dussehra, the month of October will be filled with holidays for bank employees due to Diwali, Karva Chauth, Bhai Dooj, Chhath Puja, and other festivals.
Online Banking Services Will Remain Open
If you’re worried that bank closures will disrupt your work, don’t worry. UPI, net banking, mobile banking, and ATM services will remain fully operational for customers. This means you can easily conduct all your financial transactions online. Only branch-related services will be temporarily affected.
