Ek Gaon Ek Fasal Yojana: Many times, farmers work hard, but due to a lack of proper guidance and scientific methods, they fail to reap the full benefits of their crops. To address this shortcoming, the Jharkhand government is taking a step this year that could bring about a significant change in both rural agriculture and farmers’ income. This year, the Agriculture Department has decided to adopt the “Ek Gaon Ek Fasal Yojana” model under the Birsa Crop Extension Scheme. This initiative is not only aimed at increasing crop yields, but also marks a significant step towards making farming more organised, scientific, and profitable.
What is the Ek Gaon Ek Fasal Yojana?

Under this scheme, 100 villages in the state will be selected. The key point is that only one crop will be cultivated in each village. Previously, farmers used to sow different crops in small fields, which made the production impact unclear. Now, by adopting a cluster approach, a single crop will be grown in a single village, so that its impact can be seen on a large scale and farmers can earn better prices along with improved production.
Agriculture Minister Shilpi Neha Tirkey has given clear instructions to officials to strictly implement this model so that the scheme’s results are visible on the ground.
Oilseed and pulse cultivation will receive a boost
This year, the government is focused on increasing the production of oilseeds and pulses. A total of 16,101 hectares of land has been selected in 100 villages. Farmers will receive 6 kg of oilseed seeds per hectare.
In addition, significant preparations have been made to strengthen pulse production.
Seeds for crops like gram, lentils, and mung beans will be distributed under various schemes:
- Under the TURFAA scheme
- Under the NFSNM scheme
Taking these into account, thousands of hectares will be cultivated under pulses. This will provide relief to farmers from seed costs and increase production.
A village will receive benefits only once
It has also been decided that villages that have received benefits from any government scheme during the Kharif season will not be included in this scheme. This is because previously, the same village received benefits from the scheme repeatedly, and its impact was limited. Now the goal is to benefit as many villages as possible and ensure that the benefits of the schemes reach everyone equally.
Why is this step important for farmers

The biggest benefits of this model will be that when a village grows a single crop,
- Farming will be easier
- Direct technical assistance will be available
- Market access will be improved
- Collective production will yield better prices
This scheme could transform Jharkhand’s agriculture, where farmers can get fair value for their hard work.
