Ladki Bahin Yojana: Smiles have returned to the faces of sisters in every household. The Maharashtra government has temporarily suspended the e-KYC process for the “Ladki Behin Yojana,” the same scheme that brought new hope for economic empowerment to millions of women in the state. Recently, after the government implemented the e-KYC rule, many beneficiary sisters expressed dissatisfaction, leading the government to temporarily suspend it.
Ladki Bahin Yojana: Major Government Decision: Pause on e-KYC

This move by the Maharashtra government is a relief for millions of sisters. It was previously decided that e-KYC verification of not only the sisters but also their husbands or fathers would be required to avail the benefits of the “Ladki Bahin Yojana.” The aim was to ensure that benefits reach the rightful beneficiaries and prevent any irregularities. However, many sisters faced difficulties with this process, leading to growing protests. In light of the situation, the government decided to temporarily suspend the e-KYC process.
It is now expected that the October installment will soon be transferred to the bank accounts of Ladki Behens. The government has clarified that this scheme will not be discontinued under any circumstances and eligible beneficiaries will continue to receive its benefits.
Ladki Bahin Yojana: Why was the e-KYC rule necessary?
The “Ladki Bahin Yojana,” launched in 2024, was intended to provide financial assistance to economically disadvantaged women. However, the government discovered that some individuals were receiving benefits from the scheme. To prevent this, a PAN card-based e-KYC process was implemented to verify the husband’s or father’s income. However, this process proved cumbersome for many beneficiaries, leading the government to suspend it for the time being.
Ladki Bahin Yojana: Assistance Reaches 25.6 Million Women

So far, the Maharashtra government has provided financial assistance to approximately 25.6 million women under this scheme. The government has also approved a budget of ₹3,960 crore for this. This scheme has not only brought positive change to the lives of women, but has also proven to be a strong political initiative for the government.
In the past few days, rumors of the scheme’s closure have surfaced, but the government has clarified that the “Chief Minister Majhi Ladki Behen Yojana” will not be discontinued under any circumstances. State Minister Narhari Jhirwal stated that the scheme is a symbol of women’s empowerment and the government will continue to implement it.
